I was shy once
If I wanted to go to a party, I had to take a friend with me. If I met someone „cooler“ than me, I would get self-conscious and started to seek their approval. If I saw a beautiful girl I was attracted to, I would get shy and nervous.
I was constantly comparing myself with others, constantly being afraid of rejection, constantly worrying what other people might think of me. In fact, I spent so much time and effort worrying that I completely forgot to enjoy myself and passed on so many opportunities in my life.
It took me years to bring together the courage and admit that there was one thing common to all my problems, one factor that was holding me back: Fear
Fear was holding me back
No matter how much I hated to admit it, I was afraid: Afraid of rejection, afraid of other people’s opinion of me, afraid to embarrass myself.
At that point, I decided that I had to change something. If I wanted to live my life to the fullest, I had to overcome my fears.
I already studied psychology for the past years and had convinced some of the most influential psychologists to mentor me. During this time I studied therapy in general, but decided to shift my focus once I realized my own struggles with fear. From then on I’ve really narrowed down and focused on finding the most effective ways to deal with fear.
I simply wanted to scratch my own itch and figure out how I can overcome my anxiety. Soon I found techniques that brought real results.
I found a solution
I read papers and books, talked to therapists and interviewed people who managed to go from shy to confident. Step by step I gathered more and more helpful approaches and techniques.
Until I eventually stumbled upon Comfort Zone Challenges.
Comfort Zone Challenges: small exercises where you put yourself in situations that make you uncomfortable. By doing this over and over again you overcome certain fears and become better at dealing with fear in general.
This means during Comfort Zone Challenges you consciously seek out situations where your knees become weak, your hands get sweaty and your heart starts to pound.
When I dug a bit deeper I found the roots of Comfort Zone Challenges in exposure therapy, which is based on more than 50 years of psychological research. This means decades of randomized controlled trials show the effectiveness of exposure therapy. This convinced me and shortly after, I started to do my first challenges.
Faster than I expected
Doing my first challenge was probably one of the most exciting things I did the entire month. I was hooked and made Comfort Zone Challenges a daily habit. Soon I noticed drastic changes.
And this change came fast. I’m talking about massive change within a couple of days or weeks. I started to do things I never did before, I was calm in situations where I used to be nervous, and really opened up to life. I stopped passing on opportunities out of fear and all this simply by doing some challenges.
My anxiety began to vanish, my courage started to grow and so did my happiness.
But there is more
After some time I started to plateau and I noticed that certain fears still remained. Yeah, Comfort Zone Challenge are hands down the most effective way to stop caring what other people think about you, but…
…just doing challenges is like going to the gym without knowing anything about nutrition, the right exercise form or when to take a break.
So I looked beyond Comfort Zone Challenges. I looked for techniques and approaches that help me to take action even when I am afraid. That put me in a confident, upbeat state where it’s easier to talk to other people. That allow me to get a handle on my fear so I can perform better and at less anxious.
Over the last years I found dozens of these techniques. I tested them rigorously during my workshops and talks. And in the end, I had a handful of techniques that are incredibly effective in every situation.
I am serious when I say that Comfort Zone Challenges combined with these techniques changed my life for the better.
What changed for me
So here is the thing. I am still anxious sometimes.
Yeah, I did overcome most of my major fears. I care a lot less what other people think about me, I can easily speak my mind, I can talk to anyone in any situation, I can chat up girls or stand up for myself.
Still, at the same time there are some moments where my hands get sweaty, my heart pounds faster, and where I do get nervous.
The big difference now, is that this fear is NOT holding me back anymore. At this point I am so familiar with fear that even when I do get anxious I still take action and I still move forward.
It’s not about NOT feeling fear
It would be ridiculous to tell you, you will never feel fear again. It just doesn’t work like this. I can promise you, though, that you never have to struggle with fear again. Yes, you might get anxious once in a while and your knees will get weak. BUT: this won’t hold you back anymore from doing the things you care about.
So I can honestly say that I am in a position where I am living my life to the fullest. When I want to do something, I do it. When I want to talk to a person, I talk to them. When I want to say something, I say it. Fear just doesn’t hold me back anymore. My life got so much richer and fuller and I am considering myself to be truly happy at this point. And in this course, I laid out the path so you can get there too.
